What is Going the Distance about?
Mike and Alanna Clear are putting their new marriage to the test, both in the lab and on the road. Going the Distance will require their relationship to be scrutinised by scientists at the end of June, who make predictions about whether they will stay together for life or not. They take these predictions in a sealed envelope to Alaska, where they start a 20,000 mile motorbike and sidecar journey down to the tip of Argentina. On the way they will interview couples they meet to get their advice about “Going The Distance”. At the end of the road, they will open the envelope and discover if the scientists think they will stay together. If so, they renew their vows in the church at the end of the world. If not, well…

Already we have met couples from all different backgrounds, from Eskimos to pornstars, polygamists to goldminers, asking each for their advice for a lasting marriage.
We ask every couple we meet for their advice on how to make it work – and for what they think love is.
